About Sian

A teacher who truly cares

Hi, I'm Sian — a qualified primary school teacher and founder of Believe to Achieve Tuition. I hold a BSc in Primary Education specialising in maths, and have spent 10 years in the classroom, including as maths lead at my school.

I started Believe to Achieve Tuition because I wanted to give more children the individual attention that can be hard to find in a busy classroom. I believe every child is capable of progress — they just need the right support, the right approach, and someone who believes in them.

Every session I run is tailored to your child's individual needs, delivered with patience, warmth, and genuine enthusiasm for their progress.

Small group sessions — the heart of what Sian does

In-person group sessions are Sian's main offering, held every Sunday in Carnon Downs, Truro. Online 1:1 early reading and phonics sessions are also available for those who need remote support.

Sian also offers online 1:1 sessions focused on early reading and phonics. These are tailored to your child's current level and delivered via video call — no travel needed, just a quiet space and a device. Available by arrangement at a mutually convenient time.

Questions parents ask

How do I know if my child needs phonics support? +
If your child is finding it hard to sound out words, blend letters together, or is losing confidence with reading, phonics tutoring can make a real difference. It's never too early — or too late — to give them extra support.
What age children do you work with? +
Sian works with children aged 4–10, covering Reception through to Year 6. Whether your child needs support with phonics, maths, or general primary school subjects, get in touch — Sian is happy to chat about whether it's a good fit.
What do we need for online sessions? +
Just a device with a camera and microphone (tablet, laptop, or phone all work), a stable internet connection, and a quiet space for your child to focus. Sian brings everything else!
How many sessions will my child need? +
Every child is different. Some make significant progress in just a few sessions; others benefit from longer-term, regular support. Sian will always be honest with you about how your child is progressing and what she recommends.
What if my child misses a session? +
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give as much notice as possible. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged at the full session rate. In the case of illness or an unexpected emergency, please contact Sian as soon as possible — she will always try to be reasonable. Repeated last-minute cancellations may affect your ability to hold a regular slot.
Are group sessions right for my child? +
Group sessions work really well for children who enjoy learning alongside others and benefit from a social, encouraging environment. With a maximum of 4 children, every child still gets plenty of individual attention. If you'd like to find out more about whether a group session would suit your child, Sian is happy to have a chat — just get in touch.
Are bookings provisional? +
Yes — all bookings are provisional until confirmed by Sian. She'll confirm your booking within 24 hours of your request, or suggest an alternative if your chosen slot isn't available.
Is Sian DBS checked? +
Absolutely. Sian holds an enhanced DBS certificate and is a fully qualified primary school teacher with QTS. Your child's safety and wellbeing is always the top priority.
